Lloyd Hotel Milano near to Theatre Carcano

The Theater Carcano is a theater in Milan.

In 1801, in the climate of great urban renewal determined by the Napoleonic conquest, Joseph Carcano decided the building of a new, great theater (from 1200 to 1500 places) along him then prestigious course of Door Roman, studded of new noble residences and restructured, in the last years of the XVIII century, from the Piermarini, that had systematized him/it to pavement, equipping him/it with sidewalks in granite. As usual in that decade, an area was used already occupied by a suppressed religious institution, in the fattispecie the ex convent of St. Lazzaro.

The sketch was commissioned to Luigi Canonica, then young Architect of State of the Republic Cisalpina (then in the italic Republic and finally of the italic Kingdom), that had assumed such position in August 1797 to the place of the Piermarini.

Parsonage takings to models the Staircase and the Theater of the Cannobiana, drawing a room with four orders of stages, once with a central medallion, decorated everywhere with plasters and neoclassic gilding strongly. September 3 rd 1803 was inaugurated. Today, nothing stays of the room and of the original façade, referred around 1913 by the architect Moretti according to eclectic forms and floral style and subsequently covered by a frontal building.
